Oat Flour Tortillas
These ultra soft, gluten-free tortillas are so versatile you can have them at any time of the day. Oat flour is nutrient-rich, high in fibre and aids digestion which is why we love these preservative-free homemade tortillas. You could use them to make low-calorie tacos, wraps, quesadillas or baked chips.
We suggest making these in big batches and freezing them for easy meal prep.
Ingredients
- 1 cup of rolled oats
- 1 to 1.5 cups of water (adjust as needed)
- 1/4 teaspoon of pink salt*
- 1/2 tablespoon of nutritional yeast*
*Optional: only for a savoury twist!
Directions
Step 1 Combine all your ingredients in a bowl and let it sit for an hour.
Step 2 Blend everything in a mixer until well combined.
Step 3 Heat up a non-stick pan and lightly brush on some oil or ghee for a buttery taste.
Step 4 Spread about 1/4 cup or 1/2 cup of batter and shape your tortillas however you like but in a consistent manner.
Step 5 Cook over medium heat for about 3-4 mins on each side. Once your tortilla bubbles, flip it over. (Be careful not to burn them!)
* If you are cooking in large batches, these tortillas keep well in the fridge for 3 to 5 days, and even longer if stored in the freezer.
